No 1 (Guards) Independent Company Pathfinder Officers' red beret The Pathfinder unit of 16th Parachute Brigade in the 1950's. Saw action in Cyprus, Suez, Jordan and later Borneo and Northern Ireland. This example is an Officers' piece with Scots Guards bullion cap badge with tartan backing. Two of the Commanding Officers of the early 1950's had Scots Guards as their parent unit so this beret could well have been one of theirs. 1951-3 Maj EIL Mostyn, MC Scots Guards 1953-5 Maj GP Burnett Scots Guards The beret is private purchase with New Bond Street tailor's label to inside of heavy khaki padded lining. Cloth sweatband with folded ribbon to back. One of the metal grommets is missing and overall the beret is showing lots of age and use. Many soldiers from this small elite unit went on to serve with the Guards Squadron, 22 SAS. Very rare piece and important part of Airborne history.

WW2 Intelligence Corps shoulder titles Interesting printed pair which have been tailored by the soldier. They have been embroidered in black thread over the printed letters and then folded and stitched to reduce in size. I can only describe these as a lovely salty pair which have seen use in WW2. Hard to find.

WW2 RASC Airborne Forces' red beret Rare clearly dated 1942 Kangol made example. Large 7 3/8 size and WD O markings for 1942 issue. Very nice example with plastic RASC cap badge and Wild Woodbine cigarette packet backing. These red berets to Corps units are far harder to find than Parachute Regiment examples. This example is in good order but has seen plenty of use with a few holes here and there. If only this could talk. Sadly no provenance but one of the best examples I have seen in the last 15 years.
